I look forward to meeting you.
About me
Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practioner (PMHNP) - Board Certified in NY State
Margaret (meg) Montgomery, PMHNP-BC, MS, BSN, BA
I relocated to Western New York in 2011 from Brooklyn, NY and have ten years mental health experience combined in community mental health and in-patient hospital settings. My private practice is located in Buffalo, NY and offers telehealth services throughout the state of NY. I completed my BA at Fordham University, BSN at University at Buffalo and my MS at Stony Brook University.
Journey
My background includes pysical fitness as a certified personal trianer as well as business management in NYC. I worked briefly in Colorado and also in the Caribbean drawn to both sun and snow. My previous life experiences have all helped shape my approach to mental health treatment. I focus on individuals as a whole and complex system inclusive of family, health, self-identity, work, spitiruality and faith - not simply a diagnosis or cluster of symptoms.
Areas of interest
PSYCHADELICS: The term psychadelic is derived from the Greek words mind and manifest. Currently, only Ketamine is legal to use off-label for the treatment of mood disorders. The Breakthrough Therapies Act was introduced by the two senators in 2022 and would allow the DEA to reclassify psilocybin and MDMA as schedule ll drugs based on research findings. Currently all psychadelics, excluding Ketamine, are classified as schedule l drugs with no accepted medical use and high risk for abuse. Psychadelics in current clinical trials include MDMA, Psilocybin, LSD, DMT and Ibogaine. You can learn more about the status of psychadelics at www.maps.org (Multidisciplinary Association for Psychadelic Studies).
I am optimistic about the future of my practice and being well positioned to offer new treatments to those in need.
